The terrorists call the tune and Gordon Brown is dancing to their wishes.
It says a lot about our modern parliamentary democracy and the importance MPs and Government place on the very freedoms that made this country what it once was, that we are now faced with the prospect of a Government damaging those freedoms just to give Gordon Brown’s reputation a boost.
MP’s who are concerned about imprisoning people without charge for up to 42 days are being told they should vote in favour of the bill to support Gordon Brown and the Labour party. Never mind about protecting the rights of the individual. Do not think too hard about imprisoning innocent people without charge for six weeks. The important thing, according to the suits who don’t give a damn about the country or democracy, is that Gordon demonstrates his power and authority.
What do they care about any terror plots? They are handing victory to the terrorists on a plate. The terrorists call the tune and Gordon Brown is dancing to their wishes.
Locking people up for 42 days without charge is exactly the sort of thing we have always fought against. Arguing in favour of locking people up without charge appears to show that democracy is weak and authoritarian behaviour is the way forward. This is exactly what the terrorists stand for and we are doing their work for them. If Gordon Brown is not prepared to defend freedom and democracy then he should step down straight away.
Anybody in the labour, or any other party, that can vote in favour of this bill rather than voting for freedom and democracy should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves for damaging the United Kingdom and everything it stands for.
