Can The Government Save Us All From Apple Cores?

Once again we can see an example of the power of government being totally abused and misdirected in the case of a 25 year old woman,  Kate Badger, from Wolverhampton who is charged with throwing an apple core into a field. An action which she denies doing and because she denies doing so she is going to crown court in April to clear her name. If she were to be found guilty she could face a prison sentence and/or a £25,000 fine.
It is reassuring to know that officers of the state are prepared to crack down on such behaviour. If everybody were to do this then it would be like… err… natural processes whereby apple trees drop apples into the fields below them and the actions of bacteria break them down and turn them into compost which helps the soil which grows the food and plants and enables nature to support the growing of food for human beings.
So what the heck are these people doing? That anybody can consider this is something worth wasting taxpayers money on is astonishing.
She faces a charge of… “knowingly causing the deposit of controlled waste, namely an apple core, on land which did not have a waste management licence”
Controlled waste? An Apple Core? Now if this makes any sense whatsoever then I would ask why all the apple trees in the country are not up in court as well. Every plant or tree that drops leaves or old vegetation should be burned to the ground instantly and no doubt witches are responsible for the fact that I had a cold last week.

I sincerely hope that when this case arrives in court the whole prosecution team are charged with wasting the courts time and they are all sent to prision for a couple of days.
I have heard of many stupid things in my time but I think this has to be right up there with the most stupid decisions of all time.
The crown court case is due on the 21st April 2008. I await the outcome with interest.
