There is a big difference between sexism and actual real life experience and facts. No doubt the EU has good intentions with this legal ruling and in theory you can see how they would think so but it is quite mad .

In case the EU or anybody else hasn’t noticed there are some fundamental differences between men and women. Just as some people are tall and others short so men and women are different.

Making it illegal to discriminate purely on the grounds of gender is good but it should never be the case that you cannot make choices based on evidence and if that proves that women are more likely to have babies it doesn’t matter how many laws you bring out. The facts are the  facts and suggesting otherwise is just silly.

That was until I saw a picture of the offending item which you can view on the link below. Having seen the pic I thought the whole thing was ridiculous. The shrub bears a similarity to a phallic symbol but only vaguely and only when viewed from the correct angle so you see the shape and a couple of ball shaped bushes below.

I think this is a ridiculous complaint about something that has been a little bit of fun and amusing most passers by since 2002.

It has set me thinking though. I expect the spires of churches to have to be removed now as they are obviously phallic symbols. No doubt used to try to persuade pagans to worship their gods within the christian church. They have been sneaking this one past us for centuries. Time to put a stop to it I reckon.

Following his having been gored in the leg on a previus occasion a Mexican bullfighter was arrested for failing to fullfil the terms of his contract when he ran out of a bullfighting ring in mid-fight.

I can’t say I blame him and I imagine the stress and worry of his previous encounter weighed heavily on his mind. We think of stress as pressures of work but I hardly think that can compare to having a couple of tons of bull charging at you when you know how much it hurts when you get it wrong. He has since reported that he plans to retire and who can blame him for that.

You might care to think of this story when you are feeling stressed in the office.

Apparently pest exterminaters were called in to deal with a mouse infestation and they were found to have set up home in a pile of paperwork. If our police services are spending so much time on paperwork that they cannot do their job they might as well stay at the police station and keep a tidy desk instead. They could occupy their time by switching on the most wonderful invention of mankind to date.

This is a machine whose only purpose is to switch itself off again. Wonderful. Perhaps the government could spend it’s time operating machines like this instead of forever coming up with new laws and requirements that prevent the poolice getting on with doing their job.

The olympic torch is in the hands of the Chinese, a nation not exactly renowned for freedom of the individual, yet they have the freedom to carry a lighted torch on board an aircraft. So I presume that if I turn up at an airport with a lighted torch I will be allowed to board without any problem too since we live in a supposedly free, fair and democratic country.
